Alpine wellness for all the senses

Gaining altitude, up to 2000 mt, incrases the well-beeing

The altitude mobilizes new strengths

In a unique study, the Austrian Moderate Altidude Study“ (AMAS 2000) proved that a holiday in an alpine environment, in an altitude between 1400 and 2000 mt, increases the recreational value.
The participants of this study where 22 males between 39 and 65 years of age, everyone with typical modern diseases like overweight, high blood pressure and to high sugar and fat values. They were selected by the medical hospital of the University of Innsbruck. The participants spent a holyday in the mountains between 1400 and 2000 metres above sea, spending their time by hiking, walking and eating healthy food. The results – partially statistic results, partially by identifying objective proven trends – where summarised by Prof. Dr. Egon Humpeler:
  • Mobilisation of the cardio-vascular system
  • Improvement of the blood sugar and fat metabolism
  • Average weight loos of 2 kg
  • Positive neuro-psychological effects (decline of subjective physic complains, positive approach to life)
  • Improvement of the sleep quality and duration
In the altitude there is an improvement of the red cells production in the blood, without an improvement of the total quantity. The blood preserves his normal consistence but the oxygen transport to the cells improves significantly.

Other side effects of alpine wellness:

People with allergies can breathe deeper and better in the mountain. The blossom time of grasses and pollen is significantly shorter. From July on the alpine world is free from allergens. Also mites and moulds have no change in this environment.
Alpine wellness gives a sense of well being. Relaxing, improvement of the muscle mass and loss of stress in a healthy alpine region transforms alpine wellness in a special wellness holiday. There is however another parameter witch is determinant even if not very scientific:

The subjective well being
